SCHOLARS NETWORKING WEEKEND
Feb 29–March 4, 2008
CROWNE PLAZA, TIMES SQUARE
NEW YORK CITY
The Jackie Robinson Foundation’s Education and Leadership Development Program (ELDP) hosted its annual Scholars’ Networking Weekend at the Crowne Plaza in the Big Apple. For four days, Scholars from around the country had the opportunity to network with other talented students, JRF alumni and staff, and participate in a bevy of workshops, luncheons and topic/panel discussions led by industry leaders. Scholars and alumni further honored Jackie’s legacy by donating their time and efforts to an underserved community or population through the JRF Alumni and Scholar Community Service Initiative.
This year's Networking Weekend also celebrated the 35th Anniversary of the Foundation and featured JRF's first president, Jerry Lewis and one of the first graduates, Debora Young. In addresses before the Scholars, both remarked how far the Foundation had come since its inception in 1973. Young graduated from Boston College in 1978.
