In addition to the year-round individual mentoring, JRF Scholars also participate in our two multi-day conferences. The “New Scholars Orientation” for first year JRF Scholars, and the “Mentoring and Leadership Conference” for all Scholars.  These two conferences provide a platform for scholars to learn critical skills for success in college and beyond, as well as, to continue to develop their support network.

Mentoring and Leadership Conference
The hallmark event of the JRF program is the annual Mentoring and Leadership Conference (MLC).  The Foundation provides travel to and housing in New York City for all current JRF Scholars so they can attend four days of developmental workshops, career exploration seminars, meetings with key public and private sector leaders, cultural and recreational outings and practical life skills classes.

As important as the programs JRF creates for the Scholars is the time JRF Scholars spend networking and inspiring each other with stories of their personal successes and challenges, public service endeavors and other experiences. The Weekend culminates with JRF Scholars attending the Jackie Robinson Foundation’s Annual Awards Dinner.
