The Jackie Robinson Foundation is excited to announce the 40 members of the Class of 2018 Jackie Robinson Scholars, an exemplary group of incoming college freshman in the Foundation’s premier minority scholarship program that was founded by Rachel Robinson, wife of iconic American hero Jackie Robinson, in 1973. They will attend colleges and universities across the country.

Foundation News: The St. Louis Cardinals, On the Run and Anheuser-Busch Raise $46,000 for JRF

The St. Louis Cardinals, On the Run and Anheuser-Busch teamed up for the seventh straight year to support the Jackie Robinson Foundation and Cardinals Care, raising $46,000 for the two foundations, by raffling off Jackie Robinson Day game-worn jerseys. Anheuser-Busch made an additional $15,000 donation to benefit Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholars. Donations like these help students achieve their full potential in college.

Foundation News: Jackie Robinson West To Receive a JRF Scholarship

Chances are you were following the incredible run by the all-African American Jackie Robinson West Little League team from the South Side of Chicago as they marched to a U.S. Championship a few weeks back. Thanks to the tremendous support by U.S. Cellular, Ford Motor Company Fund, and members of JRF’s Board of Directors, the Foundation is able to offer a member of the Jackie Robinson West Little League a JRF Scholarship starting in 2015.

JRF Mourns the Loss of Actress and ROBIE Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient Ruby Dee

Actress and civil rights activist Ruby Dee died on June 11, 2014. Dee was 91. Along with her husband, Ossie Davis, the award winning actress received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Jackie Robinson Foundation in 2004. The couple reflected on Jackie Robinson’s legacy noting that “Jackie’s life was one of the most significant landmarks on the battlefield against the stupidity of racism.”

Newly-elected President of the Jackie Robinson Foundation Alumni Association shares his vision for an expanded JRFAA

Mwanga Mtengule (JRF ’01) is a senior associate in the New York office of Alston & Bird LLP and a member of the firm's Global Finance & Debt Products Group. The newly elected president of the Jackie Robinson Foundation Alumni Association, Mwanga received his law degree from the Duke University School of Law and his undergraduate degree from Harvard University. Recently, we turned our spotlight on Mwanga who talked about his involvement with JRF and his plans to further strengthen the Alumni Association.
