Warner Bros. Japan hosted JRF Founder Rachel Robinson and daughter Sharon Robinson recently in advance of the November 1st opening of the Jackie Robinson biopic "42" in Japan. While there, the Robinsons joined the film’s Screenwriter and Director Brian Helgeland and Warner Bros executives for Game 1 of the Climax Series at the Tokyo Dome.
The Tokyo visit included a special event with Texas Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish who presented Rachel Robinson with a generous donation to the Foundation of $42,000. Darvish, born in Osaka, was among the MLB players in Japan during the USA post-season for the Climax Series, Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB)’s annual playoff system that leads up to the Japan Series’ national championship.
