The Jackie Robinson Foundation (JRF) continues to build great partnerships with nationally and internationally recognized corporate brands. On July 15th, JRF celebrated the culmination of the On the Run at Mobil promotion, a partnership with the St. Louis Cardinals, The Wallis Companies, and Anheuser-Busch. The promotion allowed fans to purchase raffle tickets throughout the month of June at local St. Louis Mobil On the Run stores for a chance to win autographed “42” jerseys worn on Jackie Robinson Day by every member of the Cardinals team, including Manager Tony LaRussa.
“We are proud to support Cardinals Care and the Jackie Robinson Foundation,” said Lynn Wallis, CEO of Wallis Companies. “Both organizations support the youth of our communities, which is important to us.”
Thanks to an outpouring of support, the campaign raised $80,000 to help JRF and Cardinals Care continue their missions to empower the next generation of leaders. The pre-game ceremony included JRF/Brown Shoe Scholar McKinley Stephens in an on-field formal check presentation where he was joined by JRF Vice President, Western Region Officer Nichol Whiteman; Lynn Wallis, President and CEO, Wallis Companies, On the Run at Mobil; Bill Jones, Vice President, Midwest Sales, Anheuser Busch; Tony LaRussa, Manager, St. Louis Cardinals; Joe Torre, Manager, Los Angeles Dodgers; and the 29 jersey winners.
There’s no better affirmation of the extraordinary impact of the Jackie Robinson Foundation than when one of its alumni publicly serves as an ambassador. JRF Alumni Association president David Walker, Regional Talent Strategist for St. Louis-based Brown Shoe Company highlighted the Foundation’s efforts on KMOX radio in St. Louis prior to the Cardinals pre-game ceremony.
