“To me, being a JRF Scholar means being a part of a hugely supportive, interconnected family. JRF has basically been a godsend, far exceeding my prior expectations.”
Brehsawn had a solid sophomore year at Harvard. His coursework has become more advanced and he enjoyed exploring his interests more deeply. Over the summer Breshawn spent ten weeks in Beijing Classes working on his Mandarin language skills. He also had a chance to study kungfu for week. The courses were by Harvard at the Beijing Language and Culture University.
Brehsawn plans to serve in the Peace Corps in either Africa or China after graduating with degrees in Chemistry and Physics. His longer term plans include attending medical school to become a surgeon. Breshawn would like to serve as a doctor in US embassies abroad, or work with Doctors without Borders (or both, if possible).
Breshawn’s main community service activity was his volunteer work at Massachusetts General Hospital. His role was as a book cart volunteer, providing reading materials and, more importantly, company for the patients on his route.
