Zainab Mohammodu

Meharry Medical College

“To be a Jackie Robinson Scholar means accepting the charge of leadership, academic scholarship, and responsibility one owes to the community and creating action, not just harboring action potential. We are the gate keepers of excellence, compassion and truth and we must service or communities accordingly.”

2014-2015 Accomplishments

Zainab was granted the opportunity to become a Robert Wood Johnson Scholar and participated in their Summer Medical and Dental Program where I received the Leadership Award. She plans to be very involved with a community garden and wellness coalition her Nutrition professor is spearheading.

Career Aspirations

After earning her degree in Health Management, Zainab intends to enroll in medical school. She would like to pursue a career as a surgeon or dermatologist. Zainab would also like to capitalize on her developing interest in natural ingredients and overall wellness by creating a natural cosmetic and hair care line for women of color.

Community Service

Zainab’s work study supervisor nominated her to be a SALT ambassador. SALT is a financial aid literacy program that aims to teach college students how to obtain scholarships and manage debt.
